Wanaka - Day 1

Wanaka - Day 1

No big plans today. We are spent from the hike yesterday. So we lazily make our way into town for some breakfast.

This is the first of many "Oh wow" moments of Wanaka. Just rocking up into town by the lake to park the car is stunning. We got a little picture of how amazing this place was going to be as we arrived last night. You can see why it makes the "100 places to see" list.

We don't get far before picking a place with views of the lake and have a standard cafe breakfast. We earmark the fact that they have 16 local beers on tap for future reference...

We wander up the main street and get the grocery shopping done. Even crossing the road forces us to get the camera out. It's ridiculous scenery everywhere you look.

Back to the house, basking in sunshine. It's cold, but clear, so all we want to do sit in the sun in the backyard. Time for some washing, blogging, reading, snoozing and general relaxation. Just what we needed.

We head back out in the late arvo to cruise around again to see what we see. We stumble onto Beacon Point and get out and have a look. We find a frizbee golf course with people playing. Some more photos of the lake (probably gonna fill up our camera roll at this point). We spot some crazy people just coming out of the lake from a swim.

We settle in for the night and cook a butter chicken and play some Briscola. Recovery day done right, I reckon.
