Vancouver (day 4)
As is becoming routine, we get up and head out to a spot we've picked based on Google reviews for breakfast. Today's choice is a classic diner type of restaurant, serving up the usual eggs, meats and pancake options. Courts chooses eggs and sausage, which comes with a side of toast and spreads as well as 'fries' which are usually roasted/fried potatoes. Jeff goes the pancakes, bacon, eggs and maple syrup combo. When in Canada. We split a vanilla milkshake that is allegedly for one person, but comfortably serves two.
Time to walk off breakfast. Jeff is keen to check out the Anthropology museum and the walk along the coastline to get there is pretty nice apparently. We go about a third of the way before deciding to turn back. The walk will take about 2 hours and we want to see as much as we can on our last day in Vancouver. We head towards English Bay instead, some great sights along the way.
English Bay is like much of the shoreline we've been walking along that morning, crystal clear, still water and beaches scattered with logs big enough to sit on. It's a really pretty waterfront, much like the rest of Vancouver.
Time to take shelter from the cold, so we park up at a Starbucks to blog and plan the rest of the day.
We continue our walk along the coast before we head back into Stanley Park - who can resist with sign post at the entrance which says 'Lovers'?
We head in and the surrounding forest is so thick and majestic. Exactly what you picture a forest to look like. It's amazing.
We walk on through heading back to downtown. Just as we exit the park, Courts spots a raccoon. Totally unexpected and totally cute.
We call it like you would a cat and it actually comes up to us, not scared at all. We take a few steps back and maintain some distance, we're not sure if raccoons bite or have rabies. Later research tells us they don't have rabies and are somewhat of a pest. Still cute.
Courts is keen to get her nails done so Jeff drops her off and finds a bar nearby to watch the hockey. Courts joins him once she's done and we settle in for a few sleeves of beer and the game.
All this beer and walking has got our appetites happening so we head to a Mexican restaurant in Gastown for dinner. The place is massive and there's a short wait to get in, always a good sign. We sit up at the bar and have a pitcher of beer and chimichangas. So good. Canadian tex-mex doesn't disappoint.
Time for some after dinner activities. We head to an arcade/games joint as recommended by the bar tender at the Mexican restaurant. Not really what we're after so we head back to an indoor virtual golf bar we spotted along the way. All the golf spots are booked up so we grab a drink and watch. All the guys are smashing the balls as hard as they can and are generally pretty shit. The girls are way better. Hopefully Adelaide gets something like this, it looks like a lot of fun if you had a group to play with.
We head back to our accommodation, feeling pretty accomplished on our last full day in Vancouver.
