San Jose to Portland

We've got a flight to Portland to catch so we're up early. Which we're pretty stoked about considering we were out a little too late drinking one too many craft brews last night. Ah well, we can sleep on the plane.
The drive to the San Francisco airport is picturesque, forests and hills (unexpected) and we see the biggest and brightest rainbow ever. We drop off the hire car and on the shuttle to their airport and realise our flight booking has been cancelled. We head to the ticketing counter and and manage to get ourselves booked on a flight only a few hours later. We grab a bite, get on the plane and sleep the 1 and a half hours to Portland, Oregon.
We arrive to standard Portland day, rainy and dreary. Courts is loving it. We grab our bags and hunt down an Uber. So Uber is pretty big in America, they have a dedicated Uber pick up location at the airport. The weather is definitely a lot colder than California, but still bearable. We arrive at our Air BnB accommodation and get chatting with our hosts. We're informed there's heaps of cool and trendy districts to check out, weed is legal and there's no fluoride in the water.
Despite the rain, we can't wait to check it out so we drop our bags, shower and hit the pavement. We decide to walk the 7 odd kms to downtown so we can properly check out the city. We wander down Sandy Blvd until we stop in at a burger joint and have the most amazing burgers that give In-n-Out a run for its money.
We continue on and pick up some gloves along the way, it's get darker and colder. The city is really cool and we quickly fall in love with it. Portland is about twice the size of Adelaide so it's not heaps busy, but doesn't feel like a small city either.
Last night has taken it out of us, so we're pretty keen on a low key night. We find a quiet bar/brewery whose walls are lined with books and board games. We have a couple of craft beers (everyone's doing them!) and play a couple of rounds of a card game we find on the shelf called Guillotine. On our way home we pick up some donuts from an institution in Portland called Voodoo Donuts. The place is decorated just as the name suggests. We head back to our accommodation and inhale our donuts over a game of Yahtzee. The donuts are freaking amazing, do believe the hype.
