New York to Boston

New York to Boston

We rise early, we're off to Boston today. We pack our bags, jump on the subway and head to Port Authority bus terminal. The wind today is strong and arctic, making it hard to breathe when you get a mouthful. We're struggling to walk into it, even with our 15kg packs on!

We meet Caleb and Johanna at the terminal who we're travelling to Boston with. We wolf down a sugary breakfast at the terminal, grab a snack for the journey and hop on. We say our farewells to New York and we're all asleep within the first 30 mins of the trip.

5 hours later and we've arrived in Boston and it's just as horribly cold as New York. We uber it to our respective hotels, drop our bags, freshen up and head back into the elements. We're only in Boston for a few days, most of which Jeff will be attending the Sloane Sports Data Analytics conference, so he's keen to get out and see some things for the few free hours he'll have here.

Johanna hasn't had Chipotle before, so we head there for a late lunch. Also an excuse to get out of the elements. As always, we roll out of Chipotle and wander through Boston Common (a park) and check out a cemetery. Our plan is to try and follow a historic trail that takes you around to monuments and such throughout the city. We see about two and decide our time would be better spent at a bar, regaining the feeling in our freezing limbs.

We park up for a few rounds and chats at a bar that's pretty happening. The bar is filled with a mix of people who have just knocked off work and hockey fans knocking back shots and getting rowdy before the Bruins game that's on later.

We continue on our self guided pub tour to an Irish bar closer to our hotels. Jeff ducks out for a bit to catch up with his work crew who have just arrived in Boston and to sign in for the upcoming conference tomorrow.

We go a few rounds at the Irish pub and have some food. Jeff rejoins us and we have a few more rounds before calling it a night. We head back to our hotel, where we find Jeff's work crew having a few night caps. We join them for a few more night caps, before calling it a night. Jeff's got a big few days coming up.
