Dunedin - Day 1
Not in a massive rush today, which is good considering the late night.
We're planning a walking tour of Dunedin. First stop is breakfast at a Cafe. Best we've had so far. Perfect coffee. Jeff has a sushi bowl (no more scones)
We head past the Speights brewery. Not interested in a tour or tastings though. Please.
Up the hill we trek and get more of a feel of Dunedin. Back down to the Octagon and to the main strip. It's still early on a Sunday so the streets are pretty quiet.
Jeff buys a few shirts from a Swanndri (kind of like the Driza-bone equivalent) and Courts buys another Caramel Macchiato.
Hanna takes us for a tour around her old university. Some very charming and quaint spots given its the oldest in NZ.
Courts and Jeff electric scooter it back to the AirBnB and pick up the car. We're off to See Larnach Castle; the passion project of a rich Aussie in the 1800s.
The drive there offers some great views across the bay back towards the city.
We arrive at the castle and start the self guided tour. This place was abandoned in the 1900s before a family bought the place and took on the massive restoration project. When they first arrived there was just a massive glass jar of keys without any names on them. Have fun, good luck!
We head up the turret for views and pictures before a bit of afternoon tea.
Back home before agreeing we need some fish and chips. It's cold and windy so we pick them up, head to the beach and eat in the car.
We drive up the coast a bit and past a fancy little beach front set of restaurants. Up a hill again for a night time view before heading back home.
Caleb's aunt runs an ice cream business in NZ. We buy some from the supermarket and get stuck into some more Canasta.
Some of us are hitting the wall (Courtney...) so we call it a night
