Cusco, Peru - Part 2

We plan on sleeping all day. But we get up and have a good breakfast supplied by our host, Monica. After that we are feeling better and decide to head into town.

A short walk later and we are in the centre of town at the Plaza de Armas, the historical centre of town. A big parade is on. The plaza is packed. A 21 gun salute and various other military things are happening. We pay our respects and head to Paddy's Pub (the highest Irish pub in the world).

We wander in and the soccer is on. We watch Liverpool disgrace themselves then try and go to the Inca museum but it's closed

ah well, back to the pub to watch more soccer.

We head to the big market in town and get some souvenirs and check out the locals enjoying the local foods. This is where Anthony Bourdaine came on his travel show, we reckon.

We keep wandering towards home. Had a cheap soft serve or 5. Bought another $8 soccer shirt (a Lima team). Home for a rest.

Back into town to have some food and maybe find a happy hour. Everything is shut due to the time (about 5pm). We wander around and are offered multiple massages along the way (a Cusco standard). I decline but ask "happy hour?". The girl replies enthusiastically that me and her can have a happy hour

. Before I can enquire about the price Courtney has me by the arm and we are off.

We attempt meet up with some guys from the trek. They didn't rock up. It's hard to coordinate without mobile phones, I tell ya. They didn't make it back to Cusco that day apparently.

Home to bed . Looking forward to our red eye to Mexico
